Judith Gómez was born in San Jose, California in October of 1981. Shortly after her birth her family moved back to their native home of Tucson, AZ, where she grew up. Her father is currently serving his thirtieth year in the United States Navy and hopes to continue serving for another two years. Judith was raised by her mother and grandmother. She attributes much of her strength to the friendship and guidance of her grandmother.
She graduated from Rincon High School in May of 2000. Judith’s graduation made history for her family. She was one of only two to ever graduate from high school. The success of her graduation was magnified by her acceptance into Michigan State University.
Her acceptance presented her with a difficult decision. Should she leave Tucson, her home, or stay and pursue her options here. Though the decision was difficult, she decided to stay in Tucson and start a family with her best friend and now husband of almost eight years. June 23rd 2009 marks their eighth wedding anniversary.
Judith and Nathan have three beautiful boys together, Nathan Jr., Noah, and Josiah Gómez. Judith’s husband, Nathan, is a Sergeant at the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, where he has worked for the Corrections Bureau for eight years.
Judith began working in the financial industry with Bank of America when she was seventeen years old. She was one of a very select and small group of high school students who were offered an internship with the bank. She continued to learn and grow in the financial industry where she worked for several title and financial institutions, and eventually took a position as a Full Charge Bookkeeper.
With her family young, growing, and very fragile she knew she had to make a choice between investing in her career or her family. With much reluctance and difficulty Judith decided to take a break from her career and come home where she could begin building a strong and solid foundation for her family.
As the years have progressed and Judith’s family has grown in maturity and strength she has begun to reapply her skills and experience. She operated a small photography business from her home where she also began writing fiction books. She has several books she continues to work on and hopes to one day see on book shelves everywhere.
Since Judith has been at home with her family she has realized the importance of sacrifice and helping those around her. The foundation she is building for her family is one of servant hood. This is the passion and drive of her life; to make an impact and change wherever she goes. It is in this passion you find her reason for stepping forward and running for Tucson City Council. Change starts with one person and Judith Gómez is the change we need for Tucson.
